All the brands we sell at Tiles at Source have UK distribution centres which hold nearly every tile we sell in stock.

But as ever with tiles it is crucially important that you get all your tiles from one batch number.

 So, while one of our suppliers may have 30 boxes of tiles of the style you like left, they might not have 12 boxes in the one batch that you need.

Having the same batch number is important for some tiles, because the look of the tiles from one batch compared to another batch for the same the tile will not always be identical.

However, you do not have to worry about that , as for every order placed, we will check with our supplier for stock and coordinate with them and you a suitable delivery date.

You should order at least 10% more tiles than you actually need to allow for cuts and wastage (please get us or your builder to work how many tiles you need as it is not often as straightforward as it looks)

This is more important on the larger tile sizes as it is really handy to have a couple of spare tiles as even if the tile you have purchased is available in a few years' time. It is unlikely to look identical to what you have now as it will be a different batch number (see below for more details on batch numbers). This matters more on marble type designs rather than single colour tiles.

Porcelain tiles are made at a higher temperature and pressure than ceramic tiles, so will absorb less water and be easier to keep clean.

The downside is that they tend to be more expensive to buy and more expensive to fit as tilers tend to charge more per square metre to fit compared to ceramic tiles.

So, they are not always budget friendly and not always needed in every situation. Our in-shop tile experts can help guide you to the look and functionality that will best suit your style and budget.

You can have the best tiles in the world but if you have them fitted by part time amateur tiler then they can look like a dog's dinner.

Alternatively, you can have a fantastic tiler with the cheapest budget tiles and grout and they will look quite good for a while but will soon start to look jaded and dirty.

The best combination is an excellent tiler using branded tiles chosen with thoughtful design rich advice from your local tile studio (hopefully us).

If you want to spend days in the future, constantly cleaning your grubby mouldy grout lines, before your friends and visitors come round then please choose a budget grout.

However, you will not be able to buy it from us as we want the rooms, we provide the tiles for to look stunning for as long as possible.

So, we only sell high quality mould resistant grout in 50 colours which is not cheap but anything else is a false economy.

Tiles are made in a factory which make hundreds of different tiles on the same production line. So, when they finish a run of tiles, they assign that style tile a batch number.

When they next come to make that style of tile then the natural ingredients like clay, natural stone, marble, feldspar and silica used in the manufacturing process will not be exactly the same and the resulting batch will look slightly different from the last batch of that style. Batch numbers are not so important for tiles that have one solid colour but if they have complicated designs like a marble effect or use a material like natural stone or marble, then having the same batch number becomes more important. So, it is highly desirable for you to have spare tiles of that batch number at your property as trying to source them years later is nearly impossible.
